CEO welcomed Dr. Bill Beyers last week, who shared with the class his insights into inventions, patents, marketing, and working with distribution networks.
Dr. Beyers, who lives and works in Pana, has worked for several years on a number of versions of his invention, and has recently begun meeting with various entities regarding the manufacture and distribution of the invention.
Deciding whether, to file a patent, how aggressively to pursue various types of patents, and when to initiate the whole process is a complicated but important decision. CEO students especially appreciated Dr. Beyer’s candor as he described the parts of the process that were productive for him, the parts that weren’t, and what he has learned from going through the patent cycle.
Dr. Beyers also returned to Effingham for the CEO banker and investor day, examining business plans and offering counsel and suggestions to students.
